What are the Fees?

Individual therapy sessions cost £60 (1 hour)

The Smoking cessation package is £249 (for 2 x 90 minute sessions, approx. 1 week apart)

Payment is required at the time of booking to secure your first session. For all subsequent sessions payment is required 48 hours prior to your appointment

Payment can be made via cash, bank transfer or credit/debit card

If you are suffering from financial difficulty I do not want this to be a barrier to you getting the help you need. I allocate a specific number of appointments for clients who pay a significantly reduced rate. Please contact me for further details, without fear or embarrassment.

What are your opening hours?

I am available for face to face and on-line appointments throughout the week, including evenings and weekends.

What is the Cancellation Policy?

Like most therapists, I have a 48 hour cancellation policy.

If a session is cancelled with less than 48 hours notice, the full cost of the session is incurred.

How long will a session last?

Typically, a session lasts approx. 60 minutes.

Your first session may last up to 90 minutes.

Do you offer a free initial consultation?

Yes, this is an opportunity for me to explain how Hypnosis works and discuss whether Hypnotherapy/Talking Therapy is a suitable intervention for you. It is also a great opportunity for you to understand whether you would like to work with me.

How can Hypnotherapy help?

Hypnotherapy uses the powerful and natural state of hypnosis to reach the unconscious mind, helping it to become more aware of, and more receptive to the inner emotions and issues you are experiencing.

The power of the unconscious mind is then used to create positive thoughts, ideas and concepts which will enable you to successfully overcome your challenges.

Hypnotherapy can be used for a variety of issues from pain to anxiety to weight loss. Stress, unwanted habits such as smoking, low confidence and sleep issues are just a few other conditions where hypnotherapy may be applied.

Can I be hypnotised?

Hypnosis is a naturally occurring state, therefore everyone is capable of entering an hypnotic state.

Some people respond better to certain techniques than others and together we can explore what is right for you.

Hypnosis is a very individual experience and there is no right, wrong or expected way for someone to respond, however it will only be effective if you have a desire and willingness for change and are fully engaged in the process.

Will I remain in control?

Absolutely! You will not do or say anything in hypnosis that you would not normally feel comfortable with.

Can I get stuck in hypnosis?

No. Some people may find the experience so relaxing that they may fall into a light sleep, from which they can be easily woken up, just as you would if you were taking a short nap

What can I expect in my first session?

This will very much depend on you, however your first session will be focused on enabling me to understand what has brought you to therapy and what your desired goals are. We will also discuss the therapeutic contract and confidentiality, so that you are 100% comfortable with the process and the services offered. The most important aspect of the first session is that we get to know each other in a friendly and relaxed environment and that you have the ability to discuss your challenges and goals, be listened to and understood in a non-judgemental and empathetic way.

If you have not experienced hypnosis before, we can discuss any questions you may have and it is likely I will introduce you to your first hypnotic experience (in the therapy room) with a wonderfully relaxing hypnosis session, leaving you feeling both invigorated and calm.

How many sessions will I need?

This very much depends on what you are seeking therapy for and what your desired outcome is.

For some people it may be just the one session and for others it maybe may be considerably more. I tend to find that the majority of people have somewhere between 6 and 12 sessions.

You are not obliged to agree to any number of sessions.

How do I know that Hypnotherapy is suitable for me?

Hypnotherapy is suitable for the majority of people, however it is advisable for people with life-threatening conditions to consult their GP before using hypnotherapy.

Anyone who is unsure about whether hypnotherapy would complement their condition/illness/symptoms/medication can be put at ease by consulting their GP before booking a session.

If you have been diagnosed with a psychiatric condition (for example, psychosis, personality disorder, schizophrenia and bipolar) it is not advisable for you to engage in hypnotherapy, however there will be more appropriate therapies that will be suitable for you.

Why don’t you publish testimonials?

You may have visited some therapy websites that publish client testimonials, however I do not believe that this is an appropriate approach for my clients or therapy practice.

Not only do I pride myself on doing everything within my power to maintain client confidentiality, I also abide by the ethical codes of the UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) which consider the use of client testimonials unethical.

In order to comply with advertising requirements, testimonials need to be able to be verified and this would result in a breach of confidentiality.

Where can I get emergency 24 hour support?

I do not offer emergency support, however it is extremely important that if you are concerned about hurting yourself or others. you reach out immediately to your GP or by dialling 999.

What Covid safety measures do you have in place?

If you visit my private therapy room in Holmfirth it is thoroughly cleaned in between clients.

Hand sanitiser is available and all clients are strongly encouraged to use it when entering.

All clients are politely asked to refrain from attending face to face sessions if they or anyone they have come into contact have Covid symptoms or have tested positive. I would kindly ask that clients follow the latest NHS testing and isolation guidelines (NHS Covid information).
